AI Portrait & Avatar Styles: Anime, Oil Painting, Editorial, Group and Couple

Kissemall has five creative styles that turn photos you upload into something new: Anime Avatar, Artistic Portrait (an oil-painting look), Editorial Portrait, Group / Party Edit and Couple Kiss. Each style has one fixed look and one fixed shape, so the right choice depends on where the image will be used and which photos you have. The table below compares them, and each section links to the tool and, where there is one, a detailed guide.

Which creative style should you choose?

Pick the style by the job the image has to do. A profile picture needs a square that still reads when it is tiny, a print needs a portrait shape, and a picture of several people needs a style built to take more than one photo.

All five work the same way underneath. Kissemall is built on Google's Nano Banana image models, which we run through fal.ai. Each style sends your photo with a fixed written instruction, called a prompt. You choose the style and the photos; you cannot type your own prompt. Generation time is usually under 30 seconds.

What does the Anime Avatar style make?

It makes a square anime drawing of one person. The prompt asks for clean cel shading (flat areas of color with crisp shadow edges), large expressive eyes, vibrant colors and detailed hair. It also asks the model to keep your recognizable features, your hair color and the style of your outfit.

• Best photo: just you, face clearly visible, looking at the camera or turned slightly.
• Good uses: a profile picture for Discord, Twitch or Steam, or a social avatar when you would rather not show a photo.
• Limits: there is one anime look, with no choice of art style. It is a flat 2D picture, not a rigged model for VTuber software. Expect "recognizably you" rather than an exact match.

What does the Artistic Portrait (oil painting) style make?

It repaints a portrait as an oil painting in a 4:5 portrait frame. The prompt asks for visible brushstrokes, dramatic chiaroscuro lighting (strong contrast between lit and shadowed areas), a rich warm palette and a classical composition, while keeping the subject's likeness faithful.

• Best photo: one person, face large and sharp, a simple background, and light coming from one side, such as a window.
• Good uses: a painted portrait as a gift, wall art from a favorite family or personal portrait, or an artistic profile picture.
• Limits: it is a digital image in a painted style, not a hand-painted canvas, and it is built around a single subject. Before printing, check the file's pixel size against the print shop's requirements.

How is the Editorial Portrait different from a headshot?

The Editorial Portrait aims for mood, while a headshot aims for a neutral, conventional look. This style asks for dramatic directional lighting, a magazine-cover composition, refined styling, cinematic color grading and crisp detail. It also asks the model to keep your identity and features unchanged. The output is a 4:5 portrait.

• Best photo: a sharp, well-lit portrait framed from the shoulders or waist up. Plain clothing lets the styling come through.
• Good uses: creative portfolios, personal-brand and social posts, and profile pictures in creative fields.
• Limits: the look is bold. For a conservative workplace profile, the LinkedIn headshot style, with its neutral grey backdrop and business attire, is the safer choice. Do not use either style anywhere that expects an unedited photo of you.

Can AI combine people from different photos into one picture?

Yes. The Group / Party Edit style takes two or three separate photos, one person in each, and places everyone together in one celebration scene. The prompt asks for consistent lighting, realistic scale and perspective, and everyone standing together smiling at the camera. It also asks for each person's identity and features to stay as they are in their own photo. The output is a 3:2 landscape image.

• Best photos: similar lighting, camera angle and sharpness in every photo, each showing one person with the full head in view.
• Good uses: a family picture when someone could not be there, a reunion or birthday card, or friends who live in different places.
• Limits: the setting is always a celebration, with no choice of location or poses, and a face can drift. Never use the result where a real photo is expected, such as official documents or evidence.

What are the rules for the Couple Kiss style?

Couple Kiss is for two consenting adults only, and both must agree to the image and to how it will be used. You upload one photo of each partner, and the style makes a fully clothed, tasteful 4:5 portrait of them sharing a kiss, with warm golden-hour light and a softly blurred background. It is the only Kissemall style where a romantic treatment is allowed, as section 4 of the Terms of Service sets out. Explicit content is blocked in every style.

• Best photos: one clear photo per person with the whole face visible, ideally with similar lighting and angle. Avoid sunglasses and hands over faces.
• Good uses: an anniversary card or a keepsake for the two of you.
• Limits: never upload a photo of a child into this style, or of anyone who has not agreed. Two faces are harder to keep apart than one, so check both people carefully. The style runs on Google's Nano Banana Pro model, with an extra instruction to keep the two faces distinct.

What makes a good source photo for any style?

A sharp, well-lit photo with nothing covering the face gives every style the most to work with. The model can only keep details it can see.

• One person per photo, in sharp focus. Crop other people out first.
• Face turned to the camera or slightly to one side, in soft, even light.
• Nothing over the face: no sunglasses, hands, masks or heavy beauty filters.
• For two- or three-photo styles, similar lighting, angle and resolution in every photo.
• Only photos you own or have permission to use, as the Terms require.

What if the result does not look like you?

Generate it again, and if it still misses, change the photo. The likeness is usually close but occasionally misses, and a fresh generation usually fixes it. Each attempt uses one credit; a generation that fails is refunded automatically. Anime and oil painting redraw faces on purpose, so judge those on whether people would recognize you. How much do the creative styles cost?

Every creative style costs the same. One credit makes one image. Credits from one-time packs never expire; Monthly plan credits reset each billing cycle. If a generation fails, the credit is returned automatically. New accounts get 2 free credits. Paid packs start at $2.99 and work out at $0.08–$0.20 per image, depending on the pack. You need an account to generate. To budget, count the images you want, add a spare attempt or two, and multiply by the per-image price in the pricing section.

Can you use the images anywhere you like?

Mostly, yes. Section 7 of the Terms says you own the images you generate and may use them as you wish within the terms. Two limits matter for creative styles. First, every result is AI-generated, not a photograph of a real moment, so do not present one as a real photo to mislead anyone. Second, do not use a result to impersonate, deceive, defame or harass someone.
